The Obsatz Family: Own and operate Butterfield Market, Butterfield Catering, Butterfield Kitchen, Butterfield Cafés. Our family has always had a particular fondness for doughnuts, stemming from our grandfather, our late family patriarch and owner of our specialty food store the Butterfield Market, Ted Applebaum. Ted was a doughnut-nut. Most mornings (for almost 30 years) after parking his car outside the market, he would step out and wipe doughnut crumbs off his jacket and pants from the breakfast he enjoyed while driving into Manhattan from his home in Flushing, Queens. Doughnuts were always around our house growing up, and we have already started to pass on the enthusiasm to the next generation.

Newton Pryce – Executive Pastry ChefPrior to joining the Butterfield team, Newton worked for 11 years as Executive Pastry Chef for catering and special events company Great Performances. Pryce brings his eclectic mix of European, Island, and Eastern cooking influences to our innovative menu.
